For RAPTIVA Patients
I am ready to get comfortable in my skin.
If you are a RAPTIVA patient, you may be on your way to getting the clearer skin that you deserve. To make sure you get off to a good start, there are a few important things you should do, and know. Be sure to discuss any questions you may have with your dermatologist. And here are a few tips to help make your treatment a success:
- Follow your dermatologist's instructions: It is important that you take RAPTIVA exactly as prescribed-one dose, once a week.
- Get your FREE injection training: Injecting yourself with RAPTIVA may be easier than you think. Be sure to have your FREE injection training. Schedule it with a trained nurse at your home, or at your doctor's office.
- Stick with it: RAPTIVA takes time to work, so be patient. Although everyone is different, most people see less redness, less itching, fewer plaques, and noticeably clearer skin within the first 12 weeks. Psoriasis is a chronic condition that requires long-term treatment. RAPTIVA provides significant improvement, which is sustained over time with continuous use.
- You may experience side effects: As with other medicines, RAPTIVA has some side effects. The most common side effects with RAPTIVA are flu-like symptoms, such as headache, chills, fever, nausea, and muscle aches. These symptoms are usually mild and they often go away a few days after your first 2 injections. If you need help managing these symptoms, talk to your doctor.
- RAPTIVA has a safety profile with a low incidence of serious side effects. RAPTIVA is an immunosuppressive agent. Many immunosuppressive agents can decrease the activity of the immune system, and have the potential to increase the risk of infection and cancer. However, the role of RAPTIVA in the development of cancer is currently not known. Low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) have been infrequently observed (in 0.3% of clinical trial patients) during treatment. Call your doctor right away if you notice any unusual or easy bruising or bleeding. Low blood counts (anemia) may also occur, so call your doctor right away if you feel weak, light-headed, or notice a change of color to your skin, eyes, or urine.
- Some patients have had serious worsening or new forms of psoriasis while taking RAPTIVA, or after stopping RAPTIVA. In addition, some patients have had worsening or new arthritis while taking RAPTIVA or after stopping RAPTIVA.
- Please see your healthcare provider before receiving any vaccines while taking RAPTIVA.
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, talk to your healthcare provider and ask about the RAPTIVA pregnancy registry. Or find out more by calling 1-877-RAPTIVA to enroll.
- Don't let flares take you by surprise: As a person living with psoriasis, you probably already know that your symptoms may wax and wane. Although RAPTIVA may help control your psoriasis, it's not a cure. So don't be alarmed if at times, your psoriasis symptoms may flare, or as many people describe it, you have a worsening of psoriasis. If you experience a flare while taking RAPTIVA, let your doctor know. He or she may recommend an ointment or cream to relieve your symptoms. In rare cases, some people have experienced more severe flares with RAPTIVA. You and your doctor can work together to figure out what may be causing them.
