How To Use RAPTIVA:

A treatment you can live with.

RAPTIVA Patient Stories

RAPTIVA is a once-weekly self-injection for the treatment of chronic moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. It's taken differently, because it works differently, so there are some things you should know before beginning.

  • "RAPTIVA is different because all of the other treatments that I've tried were topical treatments. They were creams and ointments that you would put on top of the psoriasis, whereas RAPTIVA attacks it from under the skin."*
  • Angela, RAPTIVA patient, 3 months
  • *Individual results may vary.

Getting Started

Getting Started Kit

First, a Getting Started Kit will be mailed to your home to teach you about the benefits of RAPTIVA and what to expect while treating with it. This kit will include supplies such as a detailed brochure, a sharps container, and a DVD with real patients describing their experiences with RAPTIVA.

As soon as you are approved for RAPTIVA, you will get FREE at-home injection training. Either RAPTIVA Access SolutionsTM or your Specialty Pharmacy will help arrange for a trained nurse to come to your home, or you can get training at your dermatologist's office-whichever you prefer. Remember, even if you have had experience with another injectable medication, it is important to get trained before taking your first RAPTIVA injection.

  • "I've been on RAPTIVA for a short time. And I'm getting used to the injections... I hate needles. But I'm learning that the more I do it, the more comfortable I am with it. Plus, a nurse showed me how to do it before I gave myself my first shot, and that was helpful, too."*
  • Angela, RAPTIVA patient, 3 months
  • *Individual results may vary.

On the day of your training, don't forget to have your first shipment of RAPTIVA with you. Your healthcare professional will then walk you through the step-by-step process on how to inject yourself, including how to:

  • Set up your supplies
  • Mix RAPTIVA
  • Prepare the RAPTIVA dose for injection
  • Select and prepare the injection site
  • Inject RAPTIVA under the skin
  • Clean up and dispose of the needles, syringes, and supplies
  • Store RAPTIVA and your supplies

Helpful Tips

Using RAPTIVA may provide you with the convenience and flexibility that you've been looking for. Here are some things that may be helpful for you to know:

  • RAPTIVA does not need to be taken with a meal.
  • The injection site should be rotated with each injection. At a minimum, each new site should be spaced at least 1 inch apart from the last.
  • The most common side effects with RAPTIVA are headaches, chills, fever, nausea, and muscle aches. These flu-like symptoms usually go away a few days after the first or second injection.
  • RAPTIVA has a safety profile with a low incidence of serious side effects. RAPTIVA is an immunosuppressive agent. Many immunosuppressive agents can decrease the activity of the immune system, and have the potential to increase the risk of infection and cancer. However, the role of RAPTIVA in the development of cancer is currently not known. Low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) have been infrequently observed (in 0.3% of clinical trial patients) during treatment. Call your doctor right away if you notice any unusual or easy bruising or bleeding. Low blood counts (anemia) may also occur, so call your doctor right away if you feel weak, light-headed, or notice a change of color to your skin, eyes, or urine.
  • ome patients have had serious worsening or new forms of psoriasis while taking RAPTIVA, or after stopping RAPTIVA. In addition, some patients have had worsening or new arthritis while taking RAPTIVA or after stopping RAPTIVA. Please see your healthcare provider before receiving any vaccines while taking RAPTIVA.
  • If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, talk to your healthcare provider and ask about the RAPTIVA pregnancy registry. Or find out more by calling 1-877-RAPTIVA to enroll.
  • If you miss a dose of RAPTIVA, contact your healthcare provider to find out when you should take your next dose.

What will be your RAPTIVA day?

Once you've received your training, pick a day of the week that's convenient to consistently take RAPTIVA. Perhaps it's before you go to bed on Friday nights. Or after you've read the paper on Sunday mornings. You may be surprised how quickly RAPTIVA fits in with your routine.

  • "I do it Monday mornings. Because that way I don't forget. And now it's a part of my routine. And I have noticed a big difference in a little less than 3 months of taking it, so it's been wonderful."*
  • Angela, RAPTIVA patient, 3 months
  • *Individual results may vary.
