RAPTIVA Patient Stories

Tim was diagnosed with psoriasis about 15 years ago and, at his worst, he was about 20% covered. "I had psoriasis on my body from head to toe, from my scalp, around my ears, my chest area, elbows, knees, the back of my calves, even my toes." But it really started to bother him when he started to develop psoriasis on his hands. "I'm a sign language interpreter for the deaf. And my hands are always in use, and when it started to develop on my hands, I really knew. It started to interfere with my professional life, I had to do something about it."

In his quest for the right treatment, Tim decided to take an aggressive approach. "My doctor and I went right to [a systemic]. Effective, but the side effects for me were horrible. I could plan on 2 or 3 days a week feeling really bad. It even made my hair fall out."

From there, Tim tried a biologic, "I tried [another biologic] unresponsive to that. That didn't help me at all. So there came a point where I was pretty helpless. I figured there was just nothing I could do. I was very cynical, you know?" So when Tim's doctor told him about RAPTIVA he had his doubts.

It took some swaying to convince Tim that RAPTIVA is a different type of biologic. But 7 months ago, Tim decided to give it a try. "I took my injection, and probably 6 to 8 weeks later, I noticed that not only was it not growing anymore, but the plaques were becoming thinner."

Now Tim is sticking with RAPTIVA. "RAPTIVA may help you as long as you keep taking it. So I plan on taking RAPTIVA as long as I have psoriasis, and I don't see any end in sight for that."
