RAPTIVA Patient Stories

When Tim was 23, he stopped playing basketball. He stopped going to the gym, stopped working on his car, stopped hanging out with his friends. Why? He was diagnosed with psoriasis. And he was suddenly too self-conscious about his skin to participate in all of the activities he used to love.

Tim tried everything to treat his psoriasis. "I went to different doctors, and tried different medications, ointments, ultraviolet light. I even tried acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, and none of it seemed to help."

Tim had concerns about the side effects of medications, so when his doctor prescribed RAPTIVA, he was immediately curious about its safety. But when his doctor told him about the common side effects with RAPTIVA, Tim felt it was something he was willing to try. "The only side effect I had with RAPTIVA was after my first shot. The doctor mentioned that I might feel a little dizzy, faint, feverish, and when I got home that day I did feel that. But after that, I've never had any of those kinds of side effects with RAPTIVA."

Tim didn't see results right away, but he was patient. "After 3 months of RAPTIVA, I started seeing some results. Some of the spots started fading, the itching started going away. My skin was looking better every week."

And the injections are not as bad as Tim originally imagined. "When I heard that RAPTIVA was a self-injection, I was first apprehensive. I've never liked needles but the doctor and my nurse were really supportive." And like most patients, Tim got used to the injections quickly.
